Our Story

Art Rohlik first developed a love for woodworking during a high school shop class. His favorite project was building a secretary desk with a hidden compartment under the writing surface. After high school, Art attended USD - Springfield where he pursued a BST degree in Cabinet Making and Business. Art first worked in construction, understanding how houses are built and how to maximize space.

In 1988, Art converted a 25x25 corn crib into his cabinet shop on his farm place in Wanda, MN. Art’s wife, Dawn, has been an integral part of the shop, helping with finishing, bookkeeping, inspections and sales. Wood Products quickly grew. In 1993, Art built a bigger shop on his farm. Having the shop on his farm allowed his 4 children (Ben, Anna, Alex and Rich) to help in the shop as they were growing up.

In 2005, Art’s son, Alex, attended college for Cabinetmaking and Wood Products Design. After college Alex worked in construction and directional boring. Alex soon realized that he was being called to move back home and work in the cabinet shop.

Since moving back home Alex got married in 2021 and has three kids. Alex’s wife, Megan, is also an important aspect of Wood Products. When she isn't working as a nurse she helps in the shop, job sites and marketing. Alex loves teaching his young kids about woodworking and cabinet making. Just like when Alex was little, Alex’s oldest kids (2.5 years) love sweeping up the shop at the end of the day.

Art and Alex take pride in running a family business. Values in their own lives carry over to the business. The core values of the shop include honesty, integrity, respect, passion, innovation, accountability and communication have built a solid base for the business.

Between Art and Alex they have over 55 years in the custom cabinet business. While the cabinet shop is based in Minnesota, they aren’t limited to the local area. They have done projects across the country, including Colorado, Illinois, Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota.

Products from Wood Products are designed and built in the shop with high quality materials, equipment and software. Art and Alex take great pride in paying attention to detail, design and finishes, creating the highest quality products that will last for generations.
